Fear and Wisdom

This is a  mini re-release of a classic revelation that seems especially apropos during this season. I was in a meeting the other day and someone used an interesting turn of phrase. They contrasted the "Pandemic of COVID-19" and the corresponding "Pandemic of Fear". Even as I began working on this post a friend returned from the store with a litre of milk saying only “People are mad!” Australia is losing its mind over this virus and I was reminded; Fear and Wisdom often say the same thing.

They say the same thing and yet one is unto death and one is unto life for us and those in our influence. As the world succumbs to fear we MUST rest into the Lord to take ahold of wisdom, faith, peace and love so that we can offer life to those around us.

We pray with Paul that “the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may grant you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation [that gives you a deep and personal and intimate insight] into the true knowledge of Him [for we know the Father through the Son” (Ephesians 1:17)

We take a ahold of the promises that we have not been given a spirit that makes us slaves to fear but rather a Spirit “of power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control] (2 Timothy 1:7) and “the Spirit of adoption as sons [and daughters][the Spirit producing sonship] by which we [joyfully] cry, “ Abba! Father!”(Romans 8:15)

This a simple principle but one that we need to access as the world begins to spiral into a pandemic of fear. We have been given the solutions to this crisis if we have ears to hear.
